I am a UX design leader with over 17 years of professional experience building digital interfaces. For as long as I can remember I have been passionate about the intersections of technology and art.
As the industry evolved, I found my way into UX work and discovered my passion. I was always looking for ways to join my analytical nature with creativity and beautiful design.
As a manager, I believe strongly in leadership through service. My job as a manager is to bring out the best in the team by working hard to get them what they need. Whether that is– training, getting the right tools, navigating corporate bureaucracies, encouragement, recognition, direction, constructive feedback, or anything else.
I am proudly a jack of all trades, master of none. I like to dabble in lots of different things. Here is an incomplete list of things I have enjoyed over the years in what little free time I can find:
I have a wonderful wife named Brittany. We’ve been married for 18 years. We have 4 kids and a Mini Schnauzer. Brittany owns and operates a small business selling hand-made home décor. She has a 100 watt laser cutter and CNC router she uses to make a lot of cool things. She also plays the drums, and keeps me in line.
I grew up with a Dad in the Air Force, and then moved around a bit as an adult, so I’ve lived in a total of 7 U.S. states and two countries.
I also volunteer at my church’s youth program. I mentor boys between 11-17 by leading activities once a week, and taking them on camping adventures in the summer. Over the years I have also held other volunteer positions, including a 2-year full-time service when I was 19-20 and an instructor for a high-school age seminary class.
